Our Learn to Play Hockey program is for beginners of all ages.  Participants should be comfortable with basic skating skills. The focus is on skills such as,  how to hold a stick, passing and receiving. Short games are included in every class. This class is instructional as well as fun!

Micro Ice offers this program for students ranging from four to eleven years. If you do not see your child's age group offered on our schedule please contact the office for further information.

Micro Craters is an entry-level Learn to Skate program for children from 3 – 5 years old. Participants begin by using crates to aid their skating, but graduate from this as they progress. As children learn to stand up after a fall, march in place, march forward, and dip in place, they become more comfortable on their skates and gain confidence without even realizing.

Micro Gliders is a Learn to Skate program one step beyond Micro Craters and is designed for skaters ranging in age from 5 – 8 years old. During this class, participants begin building a better concept of edges. They learn to march forward and glide, dip while moving, skate backwards, and hop in place. By the end of this program, each participant will have a solid basic skill set accompanied by an increased amount of comfort on their edges.

This program is perfect for any player who would like to work in an up-tempo environment with plenty of repetition to develop their speed and increase their puckhandling ability.

Areas of focus:

- Foot-Speed

- Up-Tempo stickhandling

- Soft Hands 

- Puckhandling/Shooting

Shooting and Stickhandling classes include:

• High Speed Stickhandling Drills
• Proper Shooting Techniques
• Different Types of shots (backhand, wrist-shot, slap-shot, etc.)
• Goalscoring Techniques
• Soft Hands Drills

Welcome to the Micro Ice 3 on 3 Youth Pond Hockey!

As most people involved in hockey today know young players do not touch the puck enough in a ‘regular' game and sometimes not at all. With 3 on 3 hockey, the kids have a chance to develop creativity and touch the puck more, leading to sharper skills and better development.

This program is for skaters that have participated in a learn to play hockey program previously here at Micro Ice, or elsewhere and feel comfortable with hockey.

The class will do some skating and skills, but the focus will be on fun-filled games!

Our Micro Mites Program teaches young Hockey Players the basics of the game. Perfect for kids that are trying to improve skills in a small-group environment!! We work on skills and the method used has been proved over time to be very successful.

Taking Skills and Skating to a whole other level, Micro Ice has created a program well ahead of anyone in the industry.

With a smaller group on a smaller surface, the kids get more repetition and with our great curriculum, they get more out of our program than skating anywhere else!

The Focus and Emphasis in this class will be:

-Balance and Edge work

-Crossovers and Acceleration

-Footspeed and Intensity

-Building confidence with the puck through puckhandling

For Fun Skills in a great environment with Professional Instruction, this is the place!

This is a clinic for defensemen only. Each session will focus on skills and tactics that will develop players into top pair defensemen. Players in this clinic will learn skating techniques, angling, gapping, escapes, getting shots through from the point, checking and more. Each player will learn tricks of the trade from accomplished defensemen - Matt Deschamps, Troy Barnes, Chris Dyment and Marty Hughes. All instructors are former Pro and Hockey East defensemen.

This clinic is for any player who is entering pewee and first year of checking.

Our curriculum will teach players how to be safe while:

-Checking opponent

-Getting checked

-Handling the puck when an opposing player is coming to check you

We will also go over slapshots and proper technique in this clinic.

Proper technique is emphasized and the goal is to give an introduction on what's to come for the upcoming season.

February Vacation Clinic

For the beginner focus will be on the fundamentals of skating and the game of hockey. For Mite, Squirt and Peewee levels the focus will be on advanced skill development, proper technique, and developing the foundation necessary to play hockey at the highest level.
