Micro Ice Training Centers offer players and parents some of
our areas most experienced and successful hockey instructors. We know
that the instructor makes the difference, and we have the ones you want 7 days a week, 12 months a year.
We are here for YOU! Each coach brings a specialized skills development
program to the ice. As a whole, they have made an investment in our
area's hockey community and are dedicated to enhancing the performances
of each individual. With a professional and committed attitude, each
coach operates under the mission of developing a young skater's potential growth through skill building exercises.
When you skate at Micro Ice, you are partaking in more than just another school or camp; you are a part of a "training center." At Micro Ice, yesterday's dream becomes today's reality. Below you'll find some additional information about our team:
Matt Deschamps: President and General Manager

A
native of Poughkeepsie, New York, Matt Deschamps brings an extensive
resume as an elite defenseman and coach to Micro Ice. Deschamps spent
his college years in Orono skating for the University of Maine Black
Bears. The highlights of his career at Maine include notching an assist
on the goal in triple-overtime to win the 2004 Hockey East Tournament
Championship, four appearances in the NCAA Tournament and two trips to
the NCAA Finals. As a senior, Matt was a captain of the Black Bears,
recipient of the First Annual Shawn Walsh Memorial Scholarship, and
presented with the Richard Britt Award for Perseverance. After
college, Deschamps attended training camp with the National Hockey
League's San Jose Sharks in 2005. During a six-year professional career,
Matt played in the American Hockey League with the Cleveland Barons,
the ECHL with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, Charlotte Checkers,
Fresno Falcons, Mississippi Sea Wolves, and Phoenix Roadrunners. As
a coach Matt has been able to help develop players and their skill from
mini mites all the way to the pros. He has worked with USA Hockey,
coaching and evaluating during their select festivals. He's also worked
skill development with the New York Rangers Youth Camp, Pro Ambitions,
Palm Beach Blackhawks Elite, and Champion's Edge. Prior to Micro
Ice, Matt was the Site Director of Total Hockey Florida; a hockey skills
training facility in Deerfield Beach, FL. The Micro Ice family is
extremely excited to have Matt as our President and General Manager.
With his proven leadership as a player and coach we're positive Micro
Ice will continue to grow and be the best hockey skill development
facility in all of Massachusetts.
Kevin Schaeffer: Assistant General Manager
Kevin just finished his fourth season of professional hockey where he has been playing in the AHL and ECHL. Prior to turning pro, Kevin played four years at Boston University, winning three Beanpot Championships, a Hockey East Tournament Championship and Hockey East Regular Season Championship. He was selected to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2004 after becoming the first freshman defenseman in BU history to record a hat trick. He was also drafted by the Nashville Predators, 193rd overall, in the 6th round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Mike Pandolfo: Owner & Instructor
A
native of Burlington, MA, Mike Pandolfo spent four years skating for
the Boston University Terriers. While at BU, he helped the Terriers
capture three Beanpots and made two trips to the NCAA tournament. During
his senior season, Pandolfo Co-Captained the Terriers while taking home
the best defensive forward award. After BU, Pandolfo signed a
professional contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National
Hockey League. He spent three years playing for the Syracuse Crunch, the
minor league affiliate of the Blue Jackets, as well as skating for the
Blue Jackets in the NHL. The following year, Pandolfo spent the season
playing for Munich in Germany. After that season, Pandolfo headed back
to the states and played for the Trenton Devils of the ECHL. During that
year, Pandolfo broke Trenton's record of goals scored in a single
season. The following year Pandolfo came back home and played for the
Lowell Devils of the AHL. With six years of professional hockey
experience, Pandolfo brings a wide variety of talent and knowledge to
the Micro Ice staff.
Mark Pandolfo: Owner & Instructor
As an
integral member of Private Training Program (PTP) coaching staff, Mark
has
developed a reputation as one of the best shooting/goalscoring
instructors in the area. Mark was a stand-out at Umass Lowell,
recognized by Hockey East as a top-notch shooter. Mark played 3 seasons
of professional hockey in ECHL, AHL and Europe before retiring after the
2008/2009 season.
Hayley Moore: Instructor
Hayley Moore joins the Micro Ice staff following a season with the Boston Blades of the CWHL Women's Pro League. A two-year Captain for Brown, Moore finished her college career as one of the greatest players in school history.
The forward was a four-time All-Ivy League selection, including twice being selected to the First Team. Moore was also named to the All-ECAC squad as well as the ECAC All-Academic team. Moore capped her collegiate career by being selected to compete in the Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Denver, Colorado. Just six female position players in the nation were chosen to compete.
Her outstanding play transcended the college level with an invite to compete for a spot on the United States National Team at the squad's training facility in Lake Placid, NY.
A native of Wakefield, Massachusetts, Moore has coached a the collegiate level as a graduate assistant at UMass-Boston.
Ben Murphy: Instructor
Micro Ice is very excited to add a Div 1 College Hockey Coach to our stable of impressive Instructors. Ben is finishing his second years as Assistant Coach of the Bentley University Falcons. Murphy played collegiately at the University of Maine, helping the Black Bears to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years, and to the NCAA Championship game in 2002 and 2004. As a junior in 2004, he scored the game-winning goal in triple overtime of the Hockey East Championship Ben was awarded the Howard Griffin Unsung Hero Award as a junior.
Ben attended Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. As a senior at Cushing, he was named first team All-New England and the Hockey Night in Boston Player of the Year. He graduated from Maine in 2005 with bachelor’s degree in political science. Murphy currently resides in his native North Andover.
Marty Hughes: Instructor
Marty hughes has been a great addition to the already impressive Micro Ice Staff. Marty's successful career began at Lawrence Academy where he was an All England Selection during multiple years at Lawrence. Marty then went on to play college hockey for the Boston College Eagles. During his time with the Eagles, he won A National Championship, a Beanpot, 3 Hockey East Championships and had 4 Frozen Four appearances. After College Marty played Professional in the ECHL and the Europe. Marty currently is a Linesman for Hockey East and ECAC Collegiate Game.
Mike Boyle: Co-founder of Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning
Mike
and his team provide performance enhancement training for athletes of
all levels. The athletes he has worked with range from junior high
school students to All Stars in almost every major professional sport.
Presently, Boyle continues to serve as an assistant Strength and
Conditioning Coach at Boston University, primarily responsible for ice
hockey.
Erika Hammar: Skating Instructor
Erika Hammar has
competed at the highest level of figure skating and has brought her
experience to coaching throughout the past two decades. As a highly
qualified instructor, Erika plays an vital role in the Edge
classes offered at Micro Ice. Hockey players experience skating from a
different perspective during these sessions. In addition, Erika pilots
Micro Ice's Learn-to-Skate program.

Jay has skated in over 700 NHL games during his 12 years with the New Jersey Devils. He is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion and a NCAA National Champion with the Boston University Terriers.
Jay was nominated for the Frank J Selke trophy (best defensive forward)
for his role in New Jersey Devils' successful 2006/2007 season.
Drafted
27th overall in the 1998 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Scott
Gomez is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, an NHL All-Star and a Calder
Trophy winner as the leagues best rookie in 1999-2000 season. Scott has
also represented the United States in the World Cup and twice in the
World Junior Championships.
