The time
of the small hockey-format has arrived in Massachusetts;
reduced training facilities are in abundance in the Toronto Canada market and
are also evident in Montreal.
The Europeans have utilized this format for many years because they feel this
is the best way to train and it's most cost effective for parents. Micro Ice
paved the way a year ago with its upscale training facility in North Andover, Massachusetts.
The success of this concept has been overwhelming and we are expanding the
facility so that we will have the flexibility of having two smaller rinks or
one larger rink for three on three games and also so that we can accommodate
the demand for specialized training. The partners including Scott Gomez, Jay Pandolfo and Tom
Fitzgerald, believe the Micro Ice hockey training concept is
a winner and will accelerate the development of US players. The first year has
been somewhat experimental and now we are willing to make changes in the
facility to accommodate more players in a training environment that is state of
the art. Micro Ice has personalized the training experience by providing an
environment that players and parents can afford while having a lot of fun. The
partners at Micro Ice have researched many different ways to build hockey
skills. We feel we have simplified the challenge parents have in deciding what
the best hockey format for kids to develop. We have created an enjoyable
facility with an inspiring hockey skills curriculum, a program with choices at
a reasonable cost to parents. Spending a lot of money on hockey will not
necessarily make your son/daughter a more talented player. However we feel the
small hockey-format combined with our skills curriculum will maximize the
degree of success for all players. It has been documented that numerous
repetitions over a number of months is needed to master a hockey skill(muscle
memory). This cannot be done in regular team practices or a summer hockey camp.
It is a fact that many of the top European and Canadian players developed their
skills in "shinny" hockey in informal pond or backyard rinks where the puck was
on their stick most of the time. Micro Ice opened a year ago with consideration
to how the best players develop; handle the puck, quick action, quick
decisions, many shots and many, many repetitions to develop the muscle memory
so that the player does these skills automatically. Micro Ice is the pond
setting created for parents to take the guess work out of hockey training and
at the same time providing an economical way for players to have fun and "Be
the Best They Can Be"...in a neighborhood setting.
Thank you
for your confidence in what we believe will be the way players will train in
the US
for many years to come!!
